Spreading false hood on social media

in #news6 years ago

It is sad and annoying at the same time to see people sharing videos,audios,write-ups and falsehoods without checking sources.it is rampant on WhatsApp.its a social media behavior issue. And with non-existent regulation and consequences for those that forward,it is that much tougher to change.

I could recall the "bitter cola" and "salt in hot water" rumor during the Ebola plague that lead to the loss of lives.

The 419/ritualist number calling which happens to be mostly from network providers who are marketing/advertising their services.

The bokoharam suya that was supposedly injected with HiV virus.

The fake golden WhatsApp message.

All this and many more are examples of some of the falsehoods being shared and forwarded on Facebook and WhatsApp especially through bc's.

Please verify the sources of some messages before forwarding.
Stop misleading people.

I've been ranting about social media lately also. It takes 15 seconds to factcheck your link...learn to do it before you post!!

I guess 15secs sounds like a lot time to some people especially the arrogant ones.
It's totally inappropriate to forward messages without fact checking their links.
