Free Discussion Society (taking the power back from social media)

Welcome to the end of apathy. We are here to take an active role in cultivating ideas and developing solutions, to harness the power of discussion and critical thinking. We are here to spread the most valuable commodities that we have, knowledge and information. The only way to end apathy is for our voices to be heard, welcome to the Free Discussion Society.

So I think Obama saw this event because he mentioned in his farewell speech that instead of arguing on the internet we should talk in real life. Which is what I am trying to promote with FDS. Social media has a monopoly on what can be seen as crucial and important discourse. So many discussions that take place online are not had face to face, especially not with strangers. I think its time we change that. Seems like Obama agrees too. Or maybe he saw the event..

Free Discussion Society is a moderated discussion platform for the people. The format is very simple, every attendee that wants to speak will get an allotted time to do so, after that round the host will ask questions in response to opinions presented, and the last round there will be an open discussion with attendees being called on by the host. We hope to keep the discussion respectful, there will be zero tolerance for any personal attacks and disrespect.

Our first session was 1/22/2017 and it was a success. 20 people came out and 14 participated. Our first topic was "What are your expectations for the nation during Donald Trump's presidency?". This is something I want to take all over the world. Anyone interested in bringing FDS somewhere please contact me.
