Sick of The City? The Top UK Destinations That Disgruntled Millennials Are Fleeing To.
Birmingham is the top choice for relocation
One of the underlying reasons behind this apparent exodus from London is the affordability of living in the capital, a particular challenge for people in their 20s and 30s trying to get on the housing ladder.
The average house in London would cost the typical worker in London 724 weeks of wages, up from 460 weeks' worth in 2010, according to the Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings and the Land Registry.
In Birmingham, the most popular destination for people leaving London, housing is much more affordable, with just 312 weeks' wages required to buy the average house.
On the move
As many as 6,510 people moved from London to Birmingham in 2016, while Bristol and Manchester also made the top ten destinations. This indicates that many people are choosing to abandon London life completely, rather than moving slightly outside the city and elongating their commute.
However, the option of moving to London's outskirts is also proving very popular with the remaining seven destinations in the top 10 all being in traditional commuter areas such as Dartford and Thurrock.
I went a bit further than Birmingham! Couldn't find the sunshine in the UK!
Brum is one friendly and cheap cities alright. I went further North as well. Scotland is much cheaper than either the North or South of England - perfect Steeming territory :)

Yes it is nice information you have shared. Even we also moved from London as it is getting very congested and expensive no greenery no place for sit alone and think of something.

Interesting post. I actually work with properties around the London area and in a matter of fact, the rents are dropping around London. Since 2016 the prices have dropped in London center. This has to do with the demand for properties after the financial crisis. However, even though the prices have dropped is nowhere near a price for 20 to 30 year olds with an average income.
Correct @gloomtrop - and I read today that the next financial crisis will be much worse than the last one. The kids of these 1990 children are in for an even more rude awakening!
brum?! really. . that's surprising. but i guess it's not all that far to get back by train into london if you're job needs you too. personally i'm about 30/40 miles away from brum and quite happy to be in the countryside. it's lovely here, calm and peaceful.
