RE: Blockchain will reform Healthcare

in #news7 years ago

Blockchain tech would have to develop some more I think. The oracles would have to go full live for instance to make that happen. But I suppose we're on the cusp of that.

The other side of it too is that it sounds like it could be problematic from a privacy standpoint. I know it sounds amazing to get premiums dragged down by going to the gym, but would you want big brother knowing your gym hours, or lack thereof?

The irony in decentralization is that it brings together all the information into the blockchain. It would be great from a provider's standpoint to have access to a patient's full history. "Here give me your code (key) and I'll be able to access your files." At the same time, that patient actually loses some freedom in that all that existed in the blockchain would then be accessible to the provider, insurer, whomever was so deemed as needing to be in the loop. How would patient protections be assured with a potentially under-informed patient?

One clear downside is that a second opinion would be colored by the previous opinions. Granted this answers one of the biggest problems in healthcare - coordinated, centralized record keeping. But that also creates problems with privacy of course.

Sure, from an efficiency standpoint it's great, right? But what are the drawbacks?

these projects are being developed. My favorite is patientory that covers the patient privacy very well. But I honestly prefer having my record on a blockchain instead of big pharma, if possible.
This blockchain is not built as you describe it would be. @cleverbot
