Government is the opposite of freedom. The more government you have, the less freedom. The fictional Conan the Barbarian was a slave for most of his life. When he got free, he was asked what was best in life. He said something like 'to kill your enemies, to drive them before you, and hear the lamentations of their women.'

If someone asks me what is best in life, I will answer "Freedom." Conan was excessively verbose, as well as wrong IMHO.
