More than 900 million smartphones and tablets with Android operating system are vulnerable to cyber attacks because they contain a set of four vulnerabilities as the QuadRooter.

These weaknesses have been identified in devices using Qualcomm chipsets, as revealed by Check Point for 24 CON Hacking Conference this year, held in Las Vegas.

It said the possibility that any of the four vulnerabilities to be exploited by cybercriminals, which would lead to guaranteeing access to them on smartphones and tablets.

In other words, QuadRooter allow these criminals to "trigger privileged extensions in order to obtain root access to a device type."

"An attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities using a malicious application," explained Adam Donenfeld, chief researcher mobility security at Check Point.

"Such an application would require special permissions to benefit from these vulnerabilities, alleviating any suspicion that they may have it users when installing."

Based on this news. Qualcomm, which specializes in 3G and next-generation mobile technologies, said it was notified of these vulnerabilities earlier this year.

It responded with a series of patches for all four vulnerabilities in the period from April to July.

However, as was noticed by researchers at Check Point because of these defects already present in affected devices "at the time of manufacture" problem-solving process is not simple.

Mr. Donenfeld explained: "These errors can be corrected only by installing a patch from the dealer or mobile phone network.

"Distributors and networks that broadcast patch can do so only after they have been received from Qualcomm driver packages repaired."
