One of Germany's top courts will next week rule on whether heavily polluting vehicles can be banned from the urban centres of Stuttgart and Düsseldorf, a ruling which could result in traffic chaos and empirically, affect the value of diesel cars plying the country's roads.

Diesel emissions, which contains particulate matter and Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) known to be responsible for respiratory disease, have come under closer perusal in the wake of Volkswagen’s 2015 admission that it cheated diesel exhaust tests.

A verdict of such height, would destroy billions in value because drivers would suddenly be unable to drive into the city for work or shopping including the fact that Germany's major export accrues from motor vehicle exportation.

Consequently, millions of Cars would be affected by the ban and there is a possibility that even delivery vehicles and trucks belonging to Craftsmen would not be permitted. Subsequently, normal city life would be rendered almost impossible for populace.

Motor Vehicle Manufacturers have sought to avert total bans by updating engine management systems to improve exhaust-treatment filters, a step only possible on vehicles equipped with software-based engine-management systems.

In the short term, direct and indirect Jobs might be lost due to the severity of the scene laws of such magnitude will propel.
Following Germany's attempt on the ban of diesel cars in some urban centres, giant European cities are considering placing a ban too in recent years to come.

Obviously, long term effects of climate change which is attributable to emissions of the magnitude claimed, is the driving factor behind the proposed ban.
Germany has maintained a clean green and sustainable environment and has been a forerunner European nation to set a global pace in sustainable green Environment which is not limited to recycling, reuse and reduce of waste (3Rs).
Little wonder why the United Nations Framework for Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC) held her 2017 convention at Bonn, Germany.

Yes, it's a hard decision, but I believe it will be beneficial to all of us in the long run.

Very well
Tough times don't last

Its a wise decision although its not gonna be easy but with time, people will adapt. The smoke it produces at the long run is usually unhealthy, i wish it will be implemented here too.

Hahaha...Our folks can't adhere to simple implemented laws let alone laws of this magnitude
It's a tough policy though but with long term rewards
