Viral Tattoos enables Thai police to arrest a Yakuza gang boss

Shigeharu Shirai, a 74 years old confessed to the Thai police that he was a Yakuza gang member back in Japan and fled to Thailand in 2005 from that country.

The fugitive who was on the run from the authorities for 15 years was caught after his tattoos went viral on Facebook which led to the arrest of the man. The photos were taken and then shared by a local man who was unaware of the Yakuza boss identity.

The arrested Japanese is accused of murdering a gang rival in 2003. Detained for visa violations at the town of Lop Buri, north of Bankok, the Thai authorities will be extraditing the accused on the request of the Japanese police.
