A US state that allows the sale of marijuana
The US state of Nevada has included marijuana in its list of recreational goods and will start selling it in more than a dozen stores on Saturday.
After Nevada voters in November approved the sale of marijuana, the state joins four other states as well as Washington, DC, to allow it to be sold for recreational purposes. Stores that are allowed to sell marijuana can sell up to 28 grams for entertainment for customers aged 21 or older, said Stephanie Claabstein, a spokeswoman for the State Tax Administration. Marijuana is prohibited in public places.
Nevada has introduced new rules against edible products that can attract children such as cannabis-made sweets. Nevada has yet to determine the final number of shops to be approved by the authorities.
Klapstein said she received 60 requests from across Nevada. Marijuana remains a criminal under federal law. Most US states allow them to be sold for medical rather than recreational purposes.
