'I couldn't be in her life when she was with him': Mel B's mum blasts her ex Stephen Belafonte as she is banned from flying to US to support star in divorce battle after outstaying her visa

Mel B's mom was closed out of the pop star's life for a long time after she raised worries about her antagonized spouse Stephen Belafonte, she has uncovered.

Andrea Brown, 60, says their break was caused by her aversion for film maker Belafonte.

Representing the first run through since fixing up her association with America's Got Talent judge Mel, Andrea told MailOnline: 'I never dropped out with Melanie. I simply wasn't a major part of her life for a period as a result of him. Be that as it may, now we're doing OK which is a help.'

Andrea, 60, a property engineer from Leeds, west Yorkshire, was excluded by Mel for voicing her feelings of dread over her association with "controlling" Belafone, 42.
