This startup used AI to design a drug In 21 days

Insilico Medicine, a Hong Kong-based startup, founded by Russian scientist Alex Zhavoronkov, reduced drug generation time to 21 days, thanks to AI.
Originally the company used deep learning to train neural networks, through large libraries of molecules, to find pharmacological targets.
Now use what has been called generative tensor reinforcement learning (GENTRL), a deep learning application that we say "imagine" molecules.
With the traditional process it takes more than 8 years and millions of dollars to develop, compared to the handful of weeks and approximately $ 150,000 of the Insilico method cost.
While this is only the first stage in the production of a drug, as it involves many more steps and clinical trials, at least it demonstrates the potential of AI in pharmacology.
