BREAKING NEWS: Fire in a Russian shopping center

At least 37 people were killed Sunday in a fire that destroyed a shopping center in the Siberian city of Kemerovo, in southeastern Russia.

Local emergency officials reported that another three dozen people are missing and that there could be children among them.

The fire started on the fourth floor of the Winter Cherry building and many of the victims were in a movie theater.

A video posted on social networks shows that several people jumped out of windows to escape the flames.

The intense smoke came out of the windows of the shopping center while the firemen worked to evacuate the building.

The city of Kemerovo, a key area of ​​coal production, is located about 3,600 km east of Moscow.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but the authorities initiated an investigation.
