Amazon employees could be selling confidential customer data

in #news6 years ago

The Amazon firm is investigating allegations that some of its employees sold confidential customer data to third-party companies, particularly in China, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on Sunday.

According to the newspaper, which did not give figures, the employees of the online giant sell internal data and other confidential information, usually through intermediaries, to merchants who sell their products on the US giant's website.

At Amazon customers can buy products sold directly by the company along with products from many other merchants.

The practice under investigation is a violation of the company's policy. This is particularly true in China, the paper reported, citing the example of middlemen in Shenzhen who work for group employees selling information on sales volumes for payments ranging from $ 80 to more than $ 2,000.
