Its one of the first things that crossed my mind to be honest. Interesting you make the same point. In any case we are all headed to a police state like surveilance here in Spain they are taking similar steps to take our freedom away.
The EU always had better privacy protection than USA. However it is true that we are slowly losing those rights.
I live in Spain too (Madrid) and agree with you about the situation here. People that use social networks to threaten other people must be prosecuted, people that tell black humour jokes must be protected by freedom speach rights.
Yes here in Spain we must be very carefull about what we write on social media these days. But lucky for us we have VPN and Steemit :)
