Carcasses Type of Rare Plants Grow in Lhokseumawe

LHOKSEUMAWE - Bangka flower (Amorphophallus paeonifolius) was found by residents of Meunasah Village, Punteut Mosque, Blang Mangat Subdistrict, Lhokseumawe City, grew up around the local gampong tomb. Flowers including the Family Araceae (taro tribe) are included in the International Union for Conservation of Nature, they must be preserved even though they are not in the endangered category.

One resident who first saw and found the corpse flower, Ida Dahriani Nurdin said, the first time he saw the flower growing around the public tomb of the gampong about three months ago, at first he did not know what flower it was because the shape was strange and rarely seen.

At first I saw and wondered why it was strange. Because I was curious, I took a photo and sent the photos to his Facebook social media account, he said when met by AJNN on Monday (7/30).

Ida added, since seeing and knowing that the one that grows is the carcass flower and is included in the category of rare species growing in the grave area. Almost every day he looks at how the flowers are developing. According to him, the last few days there were a number of dead carcasses also dead.

Some of them are dead too, and there are also some new growing stems, he said at the location of the corpse flower growing.

So far, he continued, after learning that there is a growing corpse flower around the back of his house, there are many people who come to see it. However, most of them do not care about the type of flowers, because they assume that the flowers are only wild plants that grow in the forest.

This interest plan is to be preserved and on the fence, because this land is again in a land dispute, so the carcass flower is allowed to grow on its own, but so far no residents have bothered it, he said.
