The Austin Bomber wasn’t a Terrorist, He was an Assh*le

Terrorism has a specific legal definition:

"the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims."

There's NO indication this kid was conducting bombings with political aims. From what I've read, he's nothing but a serial killer.

Can’t believe someone who calls themselves ‘hamlet barbie’ wouldn’t understand that. 🙄

And it’s probably just easier to think things are automatically sexist or racist or misogynist or classist or ageist... a much simpler life.

Many have automatically pointed as his blog located here which espouses stances on gay marriage, abortion, death penalty, etc.

It’s written from February to May of 2012 as a college assignment (Its a bunch of students learning about argumentation via blog network).

It reads like a college homework assignment where you’re required to take stances and defend them. He even notes in the ‘About the Author’ segment that he identifies as conservative but doesn’t believe he’s ‘political’ and doesn’t know much about it.

“Introduction- My name is Mark Conditt. I enjoy cycling, parkour, tennis, reading, and listening to music. I am not that politically inclined. I view myself as a conservative, but I don't think I have enough information to defend my stance as well as it should be defended. The reasons I am taking this class is because I want to understand the US government, and I hope that it will help me clarify my stance, and then defend it.”

I wouldn’t say a class project from 6-7 years ago is the basis of a political terrorist, even if his naive views at the time were disgusting.

What do you think? Terrorist? White privileged? Patriarchy? Misogyny? LGBTQIA+ Ally?

I’m willing to call the guy a terrorist as soon as we get something more substantial than ‘we’ll he liked a Bernie Sanders Facebook page!”

That ain’t terrorist, it’s another mentally deranged kid. It’s almost as if we have a generation that doesn’t value life. I wonder why that is...

Sort:

It’s almost as if we have a generation that doesn’t value life. I wonder why that is...

And this is what the majority of people don't want to examine, because it would make them both uncomfortable and inconvenienced and might (gasp!) actually affect themselves. Far easier to blame generic ism's and inanimate objects.

I like the comment "It’s almost as if we have a generation that doesn’t value life. I wonder why that is...", this is the more interesting conversation and you just tucked it in at the very end.

I'd be interested to hear what you think is the root of that.

That’s an 8-part series of posts!

Maybe I’ll get on it. The #philosophy hashtag could use some love....

Let's see, using violence to achieve political aims. Pretty much every administration in the last 160 years.

The Infernal Revue Service is a terrorist organization.

This Assh*le was a serial killer.
But, the MSmockingbirdM is all about creating the most anger, pain, frustration AND ratings that they can.

And so, all of the latest, push your buttons, words are used to describe everything. And those reporting will be worded in a way to focus your mind in the way they want.

Too bad they have gone so far from the truth that normal people are starting to see the deviations.
