Beteiligung an Sophia-Mission wird von Deutschland ausgesetzt / Participation in Sophia mission is suspended by Germany

Deutschland pausiert seine Beteiligung bei der EU-Marinemission namens Sophia zur eindämmung von Schleusernetzwerken im Mittelmeer.

Die Während der Flüchtlingskrise 2015 gegründete Mission, bildet mittlerweile auch die lybische Kustenwache aus.
Zudem soll sie dazu beitragen das illegale Waffentransporte nach Lybien verhindert werden da dort seit Jahren rivalisierende Milizen um die Führung kämpfen.
Von den Küstenregionen in Lybien machen sich jedes Jahr mehrere Tausend Migranten in meist seeuntüchtigen Schiffe auf den Weg nach Europa.

Ein Grund für das aussetzen bei dieser Mission ist aktuell nicht bekannt.
