Casey Neistat just before the elections had a bizarre rant about Trump pretty much going on about what a bad person he is and there was a whole thing about how Clinton was supposedly trying to buy off youtubers to get the younger vote. There were youtubers who did actually confirm that they were approached to do stuff for Clinton so it really wouldn't surprise me if this guy really did sell out.

Obviously there's nothing really concrete here in regards to Casey Neistat but with the way he's been acting it's possible CNN offered to buy him out as a reward for loyalty, it's not a coincidence that left wing public figures who cater to the political establishment get elevated through society fairly easily in comparison to those with differing views.
