Stephen Hawking is dead

in #news6 years ago

Way too early, but half a century later then predicted, world-famous physicist Stephen Hawking died at the biblical age of 76.

In 1963, as a graduate student, Hawking was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a neuromuscular disease that was thought to kill him in a few years.

But Hawking did not die.

He was fascinated by the endless space, especially black holes, and it was as if his brilliant mind told his body that he was too busy dying.

Unable to move more then his eyes and a finger, Stephen Hawking still managed to do groundbreaking research. Even more astounding was his ability to tell about it. He, who could only communicate using a computer he directed with his eyes, has hold hundreds of speeches and wrote books that sold in the millions.

Stephen Hawking was a funny and warm human, more human then many of us.

“It just seemed that cosmology was more exciting, because it really did seem to involve the big question: Where did the universe come from?” — Stephen Hawking, 8 January 1942 - 14 March 2018

His legacy lives.

We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special.

one of my fav quotes RIP Stephen hawking

Evidence that a brilliant mind will not be stopped by a weakening body.He was an inspiration.

"I’m not afraid of death, but I’m in no hurry to die. I have so much I want to do first."

-Stephen Hawking

Rest in Peace Stephen Hawking. Your legacy inspired millions and will continue to inspire countless others in the years to come. May you rest among the stars you knew so well.
