5 Technological Predictions for this 2018

in #news7 years ago

2017 was a great year for the technology industry, dotted with good gagdets, reliable improvements and spectacular downloads. What exciting things will 2018 bring with it?

Here we show you some predictions for the beginning of the year.

Augmented reality in your pocket

Virtual reality could take over the world. But connecting the headphones to watch 360-degree games or videos has not meant the great success many expected.

In 2018, a large part of this technology could finally become a daily life with a device that you can have in your hands: a smartphone.

The augmented reality superimposes digital images and the devices could have a powerful AR technology so that anyone with a device fast enough can test it. For example, with Apple's ARKit, iOS apps can map a room and use realistic and changing lighting to make objects blend better in a scene.

AR technology could change purchases and selfies in the following year, without having a large computer.

'Street' robots

In the next year, the robots will finally take to the streets and no, it will not be to rebel against their humans (at least not in 2018).

Several companies have developed robots that run the corridors of hotels and hospitals, which control crime in shopping centers or simply make the delivery of a burrito a couple of blocks away. These robots use GPS, sensors and cameras to navigate the world without eliminating passers-by.

However, violent reactions have already been recorded. A security robot deployed by the SF SPCA of San Francisco (an organization dedicated to giving shelter to animals) to 'clean' homeless people around their property, was apparently knocked down and stained with feces by annoying neighbors.

San Francisco recently approved regulations to limit the number of robots on the streets. But these rolling helpers will probably gain much more ground, if they can avoid falling into trouble.

Smart homes that open the door to strangers

If you are not at home, that does not mean that technology companies can not go through and leave your dinner order or a package that you have ordered.

Amazon launched a strange category at the beginning of 2017 with a service that allows delivery people to access your home through a special intelligent (un) lock.

Voice on all speakers

Alexa fever has spread and most of the technology giants are already developing their own voice aids. They are launching assistants that will accompany forever all your devices and devices.

In 2018, companies like Amazon and Google will seek to create a voice ecosystem for you. After Google banned Amazon from including YouTube in the Echo Show, Amazon finally relented and accepted Google's hardware. A similar stretch and loosen is expected on the services on the voice platforms. Before the end of 2018, you may need to be faithful to Alexa, Siri, Cortana or the Google Assistant.

Changes in your internet bill

Most likely, you now pay a fixed monthly fee for your internet connection. Some companies charge different prices depending on the speed of the internet, without limiting your navigation sites.

The recent reform of the Neutral Network rules in the United States has opened doors for Internet service providers to experiment with different rates.

It could happen that the prices increase for certain types of Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, or maybe, even social networks could have an additional monthly price.

Any change would be small at the beginning, since companies are evaluating the reactions of customers against the competition.

                           I hope you liked it.
