Rohingya in Cot Gapu Bireuen, Treated Like a King's Son
BIREUEN - Coordinator of the Rohingya Refugee Camp in Cot Gapu, Bireuen, Zulfikar GA.
We consider that what we are handling is not only as immigrants, but we consider them as children of the king, said Zulfikar, Tuesday, June 19, 2018.
Zulfikar said, in dealing with Rohingya refugees, Tagana Bireuen prioritized humanity.
Acehnese in general in handling such stranded people will prioritize humanity, because they need help, said Zulfikar.
Zulfikar said the refugees who were accommodated in a refugee camp in Cot Gapu, Bireuen, consisted of 44 men, 27 women and 8 children. There is a health post that can take referrals to hospitals and an ambulance is always available to serve.
Asked what obstacles faced by the refugees while they were there, the camp coordinator said, the obstacles faced were only the problem of language differences. Whereas for food supplies from the community and the government which consist of rice, instant noodles, and so on are still sufficient.
Based on the meeting held on May 3, 2018, said Zulfikar, the refugees in Cot Gapu who have been accommodated since April 2018 will be moved to Langsa after Eid al-Fitr. But the transfer was forced to be postponed because until now the facilities in the refugee camp there have not been rehabilitated.
In connection with teaching and learning, a recitation was also held. Before the fasting month the refugees received training in Indonesian and English to be able to communicate.
