Strange Orange Tinted Snow Falls From Romania To Russia In Rare Ecological Event

in #news7 years ago (edited)

This week, strange orange-tinted snow fell across several countries, including Russia, Bulgaria, Romania and other areas in eastern Europe.

Scientists say that this is due to sand and dust from Northern Africa getting caught up in storms and then falling along with the snow as it travels through the sky. However, officials have lied about situations like this before in attempts to cover up man-made chemical disasters.

Steven Keates, of the Met Office made a statement to the media saying that this was a natural occurrence.

“There has been a lot of lifted sand or dust originating from North Africa and the Sahara, from sandstorms which have formed in the desert. As the sand gets lifted to the upper levels of the atmosphere, it gets distributed elsewhere. Looking at satellite imagery from NASA, it shows a lot of sand and dust in the atmosphere drifting across the Mediterranean. When it rains or snows, it drags down whatever is up there, if there is sand in the atmosphere,” Keates told The Independent.

However, some previous cases of orange snow have been a result of chemical contamination. In 2007, residents of Siberia experienced orange snow that was oily and had a strange odor.

In that case, government officials claimed that this was simply sand and dust, but when environmental activists tested samples of the dust, they found that it contained iron, acids and nitrates, and was possibly the result of a chemical spill or explosion.

So far, there have been no reports of this most recent falling of orange snow having any strange odor or consistency, but it will be interesting to see if anything turns up in test results.

I can't remember if this was the stuff the mutated men into Swamp Thing or The Toxic Avenger but either way,,,,, I kind of want some too lol. We're going to see some weird stuff in the near future people, I'd bet big on that.

looks like the tourists don't mind

If it's really sand, it'll scrape the wax off their skis. Then they'll mind. A little. I skied telemark a lot as a kid, and volcanic dust really does a number on skis.

it'll be a rough time for the guy in the rental shop that's for sure. That Sahara dust does blow all over, it gives kids in the Caribbean asthma

You inspired everyone to over come the difficulties on the path of life. I have just follow you. I alway expect your amazing posts

Woah! This to me is unheard of. If it turns out unhealthy, then too bad... But how does it just fall without having some traces of the pure snow? If it's a chemical reaction, then i think it's been held for a little too long, and such kinda experimental explosions should be sanctioned properly, and this situation should be abolished permanently. But i think for a change, i like the colour...lol...
