RE: Landowners Helping Tiny Home Owners Find A Place To Call Their Own
Tiny houses are so awesome and in the last 10 years they have really come along way, technologically & design wise etc.
I enjoyed going through your body of work !
- I was looking into building one a few years ago with great anticipation however as you mentioned:
"In a number of areas there has been quite a regulatory struggle when it comes to the tiny homes, because in many jurisdictions they don't meet specific regulations/zoning codes, and so there has been push back from city officials."
Toronto is one of the least friendly tiny home cities lol so I ended up leaving the dream for now.. There are a bunch of "coach houses" that exist from before the zoning laws constricted dual dwellings, However, they can be hard to come by. I sort of live in one now thankfully. It used to be a small garage/warehouse portion of a glass factory !
Toronto is making some changes for garage conversions and the GTA has new communities where builders incorporate a coach house above garages which is great, however progress is slow going.
There was a chiropractor who built a tiny home a couple years back in T.O and the city gave him such shit for it. He had it parked at Brickworks parking lot for like a year. I think he ended up moving it out of the city in the end.
