Israeli Newspaper Admits Israel is Targeting Civilians in Gaza Airstrikes as Collective Punishment, to "put Hamas in a problematic situation"

Hamas is just Israel's current excuse for slaughtering Palestinians in Gaza, Israeli newspaper Haaretz admission reveals

The Haaretz article was published last Thursday on August 9, following an intense Israeli airstrike campaign against the Gaza Strip the previous evening into that same day, which destroyed a cultural center in the center of Gaza and killed a pregnant mother and her 18 month old daughter in their home, among other casualties. The Hebrew version of the article published by the Israeli newspaper Haaretz stated that:

After the rocket was fired at Beersheva, the IDF began to attack civilian targets, including population centers, with the goal of causing the residents to understand the price of escalation and placing Hamas in a problematic situation

"The IDF's massive assault on the Gaza Strip on Thursday evening, following the rocket fire at Beersheba, marks a change in Israel's policy of fire," the article goes on to say, from having in the past "focused on Hamas's clear military objectives, mostly in areas where the civilian presence is sparse," to now intentionally targeting "symbols of government and civilian targets...including residential neighborhoods, and the aim of the latest wave of attacks is to put Hamas in a problematic position vis-a-vis the civilian population in the Gaza Strip," Yaniv Kubovich writes.

Interestingly, a Jewish commentator and political analyst even predicted this very scenario back in July, that in a conflict with armed resistance fighters, Israel would resort to targeting large numbers of civilians rather than Hamas militants in an attempt to deal a blow to the resistance, "because they’re scared of losses of their soldiers [and] they’re cowards, and they’re not capable of fighting Hamas on the ground." However, past Israeli attacks demonstrate that this 'new' tactic is really not "a change in Israel's policy of fire" at all, but rather simply a continuation of these exact same Israeli practices and policies consistently used since the beginning of the Israeli Occupation of Palestine, with the only real change being the open admission by an Israeli news outlet.

Given the climbing civilian death toll in Gaza before and after this IDF “change in policy,” the Haaretz article seems to suggest that IDF attacks on Gazan civilians have become so brazen that it is no longer possible to claim that its targets are linked in any way to Hamas military assets. Thus, the new policy does not represent a change in actual military policy but instead represents a change in the justification for that military policy, as the IDF can no longer hide the fact that civilians are being intentionally targeted. - Whitney Webb, MintPress News

True indeed. For in the past, such as during the 2014 Gaza war, on more than one occasion numerous unarmed and peaceful Palestinians attempting to flee the war zone were attacked by Israeli forces without provocation in areas entirely absent of any Hamas or other resistance fighters or combat. IDF snipers opened fire on groups of Palestinians attempting to flee the southern Gaza town of Khuza'a with their hands in the air while waving white flags, and buildings being used by Palestinian civilians seeking shelter from IAF airstrikes were bombed, while Israeli snipers murdered one of the Palestinian Red Crescent volunteers attempting to help the wounded in the same town and opened fire on the medics who tried to rescue him, preventing them from having any chance at saving his life.

Then there are the events of the recent months, where 168 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed this year, mostly by Israeli snipers during weekly border protests which began in March, and some 17,000 have been injured, many with live fire, plenty more with tear gas and rubber bullets. Israeli snipers throughout this time have intentionally targeted dozens of reporters and journalists, doctors and medics, children and women, and Israel has found no wrongdoing on the part of the IDF carrying out these actions. On the contrary, when the IDF kills 16 Palestinians and injures over 750 more peaceful protesters with live fire in one day, they brag that every bullet landed in its target.

When an Israeli sniper murders a Palestinian journalist, the Defense Minister responds with the statement that "there are no innocent people in Gaza" and that every Palestinian in the enclave is Hamas, therefore justifying in their eyes the intentional killing of any Palestinian in Gaza whatsoever.

When Israeli soldiers target unarmed Palestinians and civilian infrastructure, whether by rifle fire, tank shelling or airstrikes, they are simply carrying out the admitted goal of their Zionist leaders - the ethnic cleansing of all Palestinians from the region of Palestine. The infamous quote above by Avigdor Lieberman is but one of many such statements by Israeli leaders which dehumanizes Palestinians, accuses every single one of being an enemy combatant, and calls for the deaths of them all:

Many may be shocked by the Israeli admission of intentionally targeting civilians, but these types of actions are nothing new, and such an admission is not all that shocking in light of the many Zionist statements of hatred towards the entire Palestinian population. This also serves to demonstrate that in the case of Israel, their words often speak just as loud and clear as their actions. What has been known by many for years just become even that much more apparent: Hamas is used as Israel's excuse to slaughter innocent Palestinians, destroy civilian infrastructure, and continue their illegal military blockade and inhumane siege of Gaza.

Hamas cannot be blamed for Zionist acts of piracy carried out in international waters against unarmed humanitarian ships attempting to peacefully deliver desperately needed medical supplies to the suffering Palestinians in Gaza, and Israel can only play the Hamas-card as an excuse to commit war crimes against the Palestinian population for so long before the world gets wise to their murderous ways and genocidal intentions. Israel can continue to play the victim and blame Hamas for the war crimes it commits against a largely defenseless population, but the world is quickly waking up to the lies as the mask of the Israeli Occupation is stripped away, and no weasel words or cries of 'Hamas' can hide the evil face of Zionism that remains.
