Israel Carries Out Deadliest Airstrikes Against Syria Since May, 2018

Israel has carried out its deadliest strikes in Syria since May of last year when 27 members of the Syrian alliance were killed in a massive Israeli aerial attack, The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said.

"Israeli strikes targeting Iranian and Syrian military positions near and south of Damascus killed at least 11 fighters including two Syrians," Observatory chief Rami Abdel Rahman said.

Air strikes and ground-to-ground missiles hit several targets around the capital including near the Damascus airport, as well as near the Thaala military airport to the south of the capital, the Observatory said. (France 24)

The Russian Defense Ministry said in an official statement that the Israeli aggression had killed four Syrian soldiers and also damaged the Damascus International Airport, RT reported on Monday.

Israeli attacks killed four Syrian soldiers and wounded six others, and "partially damaged the infrastructure of the Damascus international airport," the Russian Defense Ministry has said.

The ministry claims that Syrian forces have intercepted 30 Israeli missiles over the past 48 hours.

Previously, a military source for the Syrian Air Defense Forces had told SANA that, "our air defenses intercepted Israeli missiles fired by Israeli warplanes towards the vicinity of Damascus and downed most of them."

According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), "On Sunday, Iranian Quds Forces operating in Syria launched a surface-to-surface rocket from Syria aimed at Israel's Golan Heights." Never mind that the occupied Golan Heights is not even "Israel's", but rather legitimate Syrian territory according to international law and treaties, recognized as illegally occupied Syrian territory by the entire international community and UN. Israel's Iron Dome Aerial Defense System reportedly intercepted the alleged rocket strike towards Syria's own currently occupied territory.

Israeli Occupation Forces responded to this alleged rocket attack with a series of deadly airstrikes against Syrian targets Sunday night and then again at dawn on Monday morning. The first wave of strikes Sunday night allegedly targeted "Iranian Quds military sites in Syria," including a "military site" at the Damascus International Airport.

Keep in mind that Iranian forces are in Syria at the explicit request of the democratically elected Damascus government, and that both US troops and the Zionist-backed ISIS and al-Qaeda terrorists are not; and also that the Iranian forces and Hezbollah in Syria have both been fighting tooth and nail to help Syria liberate her territory from these brutal US/Israeli-backed Jihadi terrorists, which is also costing many Iranian, Palestinian and Lebanese lives.

The IDF also gave Syria "clear warnings to avoid" defending themselves against the Israeli aggression via Twitter, so in response to "dozens of Syrian surface-to-air missiles" launched at the attacking warplanes and their missiles in defense of Syrian territory, Israeli forces then carried out even more strikes, this time allegedly targeting "several" of the Syrian Air Defense batteries.

Israel has once again made quite clear its position and demonstrated its own wildly hypocritical double-standards of not 'allowing' its enemies to defend themselves from Israeli aggression, but always retaliating far disproportionately to alleged attacks against its own territory, and in this case illegally occupied Syrian territory no less. Often, like on Christmas Day, Israel simply carries out entirely unprovoked attacks against Syria; it is of little concern to the Zionists whether their strikes are 'retaliatory' or 'preemptive' in nature, their unjustified attacks against their neighbors continue either way.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry said on Monday in two identical letters sent to the UN Secretary General and Head of the Security Council "that the Israeli aggression carried out at dawn on Damascus and its Countryside is an attempt to prolong the crisis in Syria and the terrorist war on it," according to SANA. The Syrian Arab News Agency added that, "the Ministry said this aggression attempts to raise the morale of the remaining terrorist hotbeds that are subservient to the Israeli occupation."

“Syria affirms that Israel’s persistence in its dangerous aggressive behavior wouldn’t be possible without the unlimited support of the US administration and the immunity provided to it by the US and other Security Council member states,” the letter stated.

Neither Israel nor the US is likely to soon change their policies based on this plea, but the world nonetheless continues to wake up and get wise to the Zionist lies, blatant hypocrisy, and the relentless aggression and destabilization efforts in the region.
