I totally agree with your conclusion. It's on us to claim our freedom from those that are intent on stealing it. On another note, Douglas Gabriel claims to be a former NSA employee and former Jesuit. Not sure if "former" is something those organizations put up with.
I don't think there is any such thing either. But many of them like to think that we will swallow that ruse.
