This Strip Club Lets You Pay Strippers Via Bitcoin QR Tattoos
One of questions frequently asked of bitcoin investors is how will cryptocurrency actually find practical everyday uses. Well, for strippers and exotic dancers, the anonymity and cashless nature of bitcoin can actually help them bypass banks that have been known to shut down their accounts.
A new club in Las Vegas, Legends, allows their strippers to accept payments via Bitcoin through QR tattoos that can be scanned on their bodies. Not only is this beneficial for the strippers, it allows patrons an extra level of privacy as they can avoid credit card bills being sent to their homes. Legends even features a Bitcoin ATM.
The strippers can accept their Bitcoin payments the traditional way or they can have the money scanned to a temporary QR code tattoo of their wallet address. Obviously, the placement of the tattoo would be up to the stripper. So far, the dancers at Legends say they appreciate being able to have more control over their financial matters and not having to worry about bringing large amounts of cash into a bank. Also, the payments are instant.
“I’m not going to name names, but there are certain banks that… will shut down your account and actually deny you from having an account because we work in the adult entertainment industry," said Summer Chase.
Despite what some may consider salacious optics, this looks like a pretty good example of how decentralized peer-to-peer financial networks help people in controversial lines of work to avoid oppressive and arbitrary restrictions imposed by middlemen.
