RE: Dozens of Charges Dropped After Deputy Seen on Video Planting Drugs on Innocent People

in #news6 years ago

I got a ticket a couple years back that I am absolutely certain was all about getting a quota. Thank goodness the coproach didn't plant drugs. He threatened me with an open container violation because I had a crushed beer can I had picked up from a parking lot in the car. he magnanimously settled for giving me a "failure to maintain my lane" ticket because I had pulled to the shoulder while his car was still just a mystery car tailgating me at night, and I returned to my lane when he didn't pass. The courts extorted $100 from me for that. Fuck the police. And I know damn well I was nowhere near the top of what police abuse can do to people.

Seen it in the movies, and a lot on youtube, this whole prison for profit thing needs to go, and giving police targets, it is not verging on, it is insane, and only leads to more laws being created to make it easier to break said law.

Targets and quotas for police is not only wrong, it also does not encourage "police people" to help in the community due to always looking for the next victim, I am glad I do not live there, it must be like walking on broken egg shells just leaving the house.

There are far too many laws against non-crimes, and the nature of police as a tax-funded monopoly is already inherently corrupting due to the incentives. Add in racism, quotas, and plain old psychological problems and you have a recipe for disaster.

And unfortunately, this isn't a US-only problem, although we do have the highest per-capita prison population in the world, which doesn't speak well for the government of the "land of the free."

Agreed, and true that about not only a USA problem, my home country the UK now runs some prisons for profit, so I left there and have never looked back, and will not be returning any time soon if ever.
