Introducing the team behind the IOTA - the Core,

in #news7 years ago (edited)

As a continuation of my series, where we delve into the IOTA, I will introduce to you their main developer team and for those curious there is also something at the end :)

The Core Developers

Alon Elmaliah

He is a programmer and electrical engineer with great passion for security and cryptography.

After several years in the semiconductor industry, most recently at Intel, Alon devotes his time to the study of distributed, decentralized systems & digital cash alternatives; bringing large scale problem-solving skills to software implementations.

Skilled in Python, Computer Science, and C++, he joins the IOTA core development team to push IOTA even further.

Quote from his university

B.Sc. in Computer Science & Electronic Engineering from Tel Aviv University

  • Curious, loves to research & master new skills.

Quote from him for the project

IOTA solves traditional cryptocurrency’s principal-agent problem (buyer-merchant-miner) in an elegant way; by removing “mining” altogether, a vast surface of attack & manipulation is resolved?—?as we see unfold in Bitcoin in the past weeks.
Instead, the users of the network are also in-charge of maintaining the network.
IOTA’s fee-less paradigm will be the back-bone of the Internet of Things economy; integrating machine-to-machine payments, boot-strapping decentralized applications & Data integrity — IoT’s future has never looked brighter.

Alfred Keller

His IT career started in the banking industry where he was engaged in planning, sizing and testing the future system and network architecture. Later he became partner in a medium-sized company that developed software and devices for access control, biometric identification and the integration of advanced unified messaging systems.
With good knowledge in C, C++, Java and Javascript he is very well prepared to review and test the IOTA core software and artifacts. He has profound experience in data communication and cloud computing.

Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering at ETH [Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich]. Continuously trained on the job in information technology from the very start of Linux back in the nineties up until now.

Quote on joining the project

Curiosity and thirst for knowledge were the reasons why I started self-studying the blockchain technology in summer of 2016. IOTA caught my interest because it is so obvious that it overcomes the limitations of the traditional blockchain technology. The concept of IOTA as the scalable backbone of IOT, decentralized and without fees, is very appealing to an open-minded engineer with an up-to-date background in distributed computing and embedded devices.
And most important: it is open source and allows any organization or business unit to run its own nodes on their own infrastructure. It is even possible to run private ledgers. For a fellow technology whiz, the sky appears to be the limit with IOTA.

Paul Handy

Paul Handy is deeply interested in the science of things, he has been involved in a number of interesting projects ranging from industrial equipment and scientific instruments to microfluidic stereolithography to learning systems, control systems, and more.

Education

He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, was introduced to blockchain and cryptocurrencies starting in early 2013 with Bitcoin and Litecoin, and has followed IOTA since the publishing of the whitepaper in 2015. Paul is passionate about electronics, physics, mathematics, cryptography, and peer-to-peer networks.

Quote On joining IOTA

I am very excited to work together with the IOTA Foundation on core technologies that empower decentralized commerce. When I first read the tangle whitepaper, I was impressed at the unique approaches described for asynchronous and probabilistic consensus. I look forward to building systems that bring security and scalability to interactions between humans and machines alike.

And Finally, Might be YOU!

  • What do you think about the team?
  • Can we find a C Core programmer for Steemit, @ned said something about that, are there any news?
  • What is AntShares? (I will do a short post on that too the web page looks fascinating)

Join me next time, when we will meet the team behind the Foundation. IOTA is a non-profit organization after all, just like Steemit Inc. is :)

Cheers

I have recently gotten involved with #bitcoin and just came across this information. I would like to know more about how to get involved with IOTA. I look forward to more great posts like this. Thank you!!

Hii @j3dy, Nice to Meet your Team :)

hahah, yeah my dream team is big :)

one favor to ask, could you please reserve that flashy sign for somebody who needs a welcome, also if you need help please ask :) at least tone it down a bit it's very distracting and a bit hard on my brain

IOTA!!!... Now i'm interested!!! Been seeing stuff here and there about this. Thanks for posting.

I have one more on their Foundation team, which are a lot of big guys it seems. Then I will move deeper into their technology and what I find interesting in it, I'm still a aspiring blocky :D so this will be my second chain after Steemit that I will be reading up on.

Thank you for stopping by :)

Thanks for the great post. I've been looking into IOTA a lot too... some huge potential for this one.

I just did a large post about this too. It may be helpful.
