RE: How Dare You Trust Politicians to Save the World? [VIDEO]

in #news5 years ago

Dr Crockford stated, "No climate emergency for polar bears means no climate emergency period." IMO, that's an absurd statement. The climate crisis refers to the climate of the entire globe not just polar bears. And she states that even though the Arctic ice pack has shrunk 50% since 1979, the polar bear habitat is good and therefore the populations are increasing, but she does not explain why. Other scientists, like Dr. Peter Wadhams, also say that the Arctic ice is rapidly decreasing both in extent (area) and volume (thickness). So, ice that was 6-8 ft thick is now only 2-3 ft thick. Seals live on thin ice because they have to be able to dig breathing holes. Therefore, the seal habitat has expanded, resulting in more seals and more food for polar bears. But, as the Arctic ice continues to shrink, so will the habitat for seals and polar bears, and so polar bears numbers will probably peak and then start falling steeply.
