That's why you can not kill house centipedes, even if you are afraid of them.:)

Centipede is one of the most underrated heroes in the fight against pests, which we usually meet in our house with loud cries, not with words of gratitude. Her terrible form is deceptive. But in fact, this arthropod creature is a very useful predator, which hunts cockroaches and termites - more dangerous creatures.
With centipedes, we often encounter in wet cellars and bathrooms. Some can live indoors all their lives, while others spend the summer outdoors, hunting larvae and spiders, and with the onset of colds they move inside.

Although these predators are called centipedes, they have only 30 feet. The front two legs in the form of fangs with poison serve to hunt insects. But do not worry, these fangs are too weak to pierce the skin of a person. The rest of the paws allow them to move at maximum speed and catch their victims, using a tactic called a lasso, in which the centipede connects its prey with a mass of long legs. It is also quite an amazing sight, when centipedes themselves face threats, they can independently amputate their legs to distract predators.

The size of the centipede is 2-5 cm, and the average life expectancy is 3 to 7 years. They have a yellowish-gray color with dark strips that go along the body.

Thanks to its good appetite, just one centipede can destroy an astounding number of harmful insects. In its diet there are spiders, ants, bugs and cockroaches. So, when the next time you see this arthropod creature in your house, do not rush to get rid of it.

As intimidating as they may appear, the house centipedes are amazing animals. If folks took the time to watch them in action, they'd appreciate their presence.
