NY POST: Mom’s flu death may have sent Florida massacre suspect over the edge

Flordia massare suspect Nikolas Cruz, 19, has been accused of the worst school shooting since the Sandy Hook massacre and according to family, his mother’s recent death from the flu might have sent him over the edge. (We are not sure whether she had been vaccinated.)

His mother’s sister-in-law, Barbara Kumbatovic said, “Lynda was very close to them. She put a lot of time and effort into those boys, trying to give them a good life and upbringing. I don’t think it [the massacre] had anything to do with his upbringing. It could have been the loss of his mom.”1

Nikolas and his younger brother Zachary were adopted as infants by Roger and Lynda Cruz. When Roger died of a heart attack a decade ago, Lynda was left to raise the boys on her own.

It’s also been suggested that Nikolas had autism and might have been taking medication.

After their mother died, the brothers went to live with friends however, Nikolas moved away and into the home of a friend. The new family he was living with tried to help him and even encouraged him after he was expelled from Stoneman Douglas, to take some adult ed classes and get a job at a local Dollar Store.

The attorney for the family, Jim Lewis, said:

“The family is devastated, they didn’t see this coming. They took him in and it’s a classic case of no good deed goes unpunished. He was a little quirky and he was depressed about his mom’s death, but who wouldn’t be?”2
