This weekend, a rally called “Hands Across the Water” was held all over the state of Florida, including in Naples, Fort Myers Beach, West Palm Beach, and Tampa, to bring awareness to the red tide problem. It was a time for people to make their voices heard in the fight for clean water. (Something we’ve been talking about for years. Many of us have been.)

Something we shouldn’t have to fight for.

Brittany Merring, one of the event organizers, said:

“We need to be aware because it’s going affect all of us. You may not think about it, you might live 10 to 15 miles from the beach. But eventually, it’s going affect your children, affect your drinking water, and your future. So we need to just continuously share, keep the momentum going. Keep it peaceful, keep politics aside so we can come together and stand as one.”
