Notice to humanity - Steemit.jpg

25 years ago in 1992, scientists issued a warning to humanity about the direction the Earth's ecosystems were headed, and it wasn't good. They warned about environmental impacts like they were biblical plagues, and also warned to brace for global climate change.

Today, 25 years later, researchers have issued a 'bracing follow-up', and once again the message is dire. The researchers have gone on to issue a 'second warning' to humanity and say that soon it will be too late to shift course from our failing trajectory.

The article published by the researchers lists a rise in global average temperatures, a rise in carbon dioxide emissions, a decline in access to fresh water and a decline in the number of wild-caught fish amongst others. We also have an ever increasing human population on Earth, with a whopping 2 billion increase since 1992, while the population of other mammals, reptiles, fish and amphibians have declined.

Other warnings have made headlines in recent years:

"Earth's sixth mass extinction is already underway as humans are causing the 'biological annihilation' of wildlife"

"Five hottest years on record have occurred since 2011" was a particularly interesting statistic, the stats released by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) showed that the five years from 2011 to 2015 were the warmest on record. 2016 went on to be the hottest year on record, and 2017 was expected by some to be even hotter.

Another event took place in 2011, and it is more significant than all of the above statistics and warnings. This event both fulfils prophecy, and is a major factor behind 'biblical-like plagues' and what we know as 'climate change'.

On January 28th 2011 prophecy was fulfilled:

When Christ ascended to Heaven 2000 Years ago, it was at this location, and the angels assured the witnesses that he would return the same way.

Acts 1:11 And they were saying to them, "Galilean men, why are you standing and gazing into the sky? This Yeshua, who was taken up from you into Heaven shall come in this way, as when you saw him going up into Heaven."

Matthew 24:27 For just as lightning goes out from The East and appears unto The West, so will the coming of The Son of Man be.

Not one for the end times, but interesting nonetheless

End Times is a funny way to word it anyway when most of the eschatological viewpoints expressing the term also express an improved future after the "End." Change is a constant. I guess "Period when almost everything changes at around the same time or ends" just doesn't roll off the tongue as smoothly.

To every end, there will be a new beginning. :)

Like we say in Dutch: een gewaarschuwd man is er twee waard. But that doesn't work here.
People just want more and more no matter what, disgusting sometimes, when everything is gone, I hope people will realise that money doesn't keep you warm, give you love

If it wasn't for divine intervention, humans would eventually face a cataclysm that would be far worse than what we currently face. We need a change in leadership, and a change of habit, that much is certain.

I was in Texas for one of those hottest years in history... It was not fun at all...
