Russia Isn't Arming the Taliban.... Yet!

Central Casting Called, they want their props back

CNN is desperately trying to get the world to believe that Russia is arming the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Their air-tight case? Taliban fighters have been spotted with AK-47s and a few Dragunov sniper rifles!

These are only the most popular weapons in the world for their intended purpose.

We have reached a point of Deep State shamelessness that should worry everyone—Left, Right or libertarian.

CNN's hard-hitting report was a rather transparent attempt to whip up support for a new round of troop deployments to Afghanistan. Sending more troops to Afghanistan will accomplish nothing aside from maiming more children and enriching those who are already profiting handsomely from the War on Terror. Even though the US military is losing badly in the Middle East, Raytheon and other death merchants will remain fat and happy so long as Congress keeps the money flowing.

Of course, prolonging the conflict in Afghanistan could also blunt China’s ambitions for a continent-spanning new silk road network to Europe, known as the One Belt, One Road (OBOR) initiative.

For Steemian Eyes Only

What's important is to understand that the Taliban control most of Afghanistan and the Kabul government which we back controls well, Kabul and pretty much nothing else. As the war in Syria and Iraq fails for ISIS they are swarming into Afghanistan and northern Pakistan doing recruitment drives.

Russia, China and Iran all understand that the key to successfully pulling off the new Silk Road project means elevating Pakistan to a senior partner and stabilizing Afghanistan. The Taliban is the only force in Afghanistan capable of governing large swaths of the country, because it already is, and taking on ISIS.

So, Russian weapons and support will eventually flow in there, after Pakistan and Kabul agree on terms. This will be complicated with the forced ouster of Pakistani PM Nawaz Sharif who was instrumental in bringing forward Pakistan's foreign policy.

While I don't think this will derail the Silk Roads project and its offshoot, CPEC (China Pakistan Economic Corridor), the U.S. is pulling out all the stops at this point to do so.

Excellent perspective! Afganastan is rich in natural resources, such as miles and miles of poppy fields, which the "Big Money Guys" have an intense interest in. :-(

Yes they do... and it's why the Taliban is persona non grata there. We will fight there forever as that is the birth place of the ISIS arms dealing. I wrote a piece last month which traced the overthrow of the Macedonian government by George Soros to Albanian Mobsters (who took over in Macendonia) and the ISIS arms trade in the Philippines.

This is why ISIS took over Malawi in the Philippines, to protect the flow of drugs and guns.

Forget 3rd world nation.... It's a 3rd world world!

I remember seeing, I believe, an episode on Nat Geo that showed someone in an Afghan village who was their gunsmith, hand making AK's, from scratch.

Now, if they were to suddenly be seen carrying M4 clones, that might indicate "someone" was supplying them.

But it wouldn't be Russia.

Not to mention the Stinger MANPADS still floating around out there.
