The whole left and right bothers me to no end. The right has blame as well. They have succumbed to the "government needs to find solutions" mantra. Our Federal government is much to large and needs to reigned in.
GW signed the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990.
As a society we really haven't recognized the way we do school is not best for anyone.
We have lost our sense of community for the most part.
Would we have school shooting if schools were way smaller, controlled locally and kids empowered more to determine what they individually need to learn. Put kids in situations where they can determine bullying is wrong and not acceptable.
I would believe that we would have a lot of what you say if we could get the pernicious influence of the NEA out of the schools and teachers handled their own employment relationship with the schools instead of a union that pretends to be about education but is actually a leftist money funnel for Democrats.
I also agree with you regarding localizing education, dismantling the Dept. of Education and overhauling the whole notion of how we teach. I learned to read when I was two years old, and I believe that pretty much any kid can, as long as someone takes the time. And once you can read, your whole world is unlocked. At three. Or four.
