Hacking made easy. From Apple, Linux and Co.

in #news7 years ago

It has always been suggested that Apple and Linux products are safer than the competition.
How it came out now is not true.

Almost every Apple product is affected by a security vulnerability.
This vulnerability in the processors is present in Apple's iPhones, iPads and Mac computers. This is based on computer processors and is the most extensive gap of all.

Apple then announced that it would close it with a software update for the Safari web browser.

This gap is based on serious vulnerabilities from processor manufacturers Intel, AMD and ARM. This allows hackers to steal sensitive data such as passwords via the browser.

Apple has already closed the security gap for Intel processors.

As I read from various sources, the manufacturers have been aware of this gap for more than 2 years! They only reacted to this when the public heard about it.

If that's true, I think this is a big mess.

Now the question arises, can this security hole be filled at all? Is it just a pretext for manufacturers to close them with a browser?

I think the Apple Safari fix only secures webbrowser related Meltdown-hacks so it is a partial fix.

So computers separate one application from reading information passing through the kernel. Meltdown tears down these security walls and allows for programs to read the kernel without permission. Worse is that these securities are part of the hardware. So no matter what OS you run you are at risk. However, it has not be shown that this information can be exploited on AMD or ARM systems. Well besides Meltdown there is also Spectre which I think nobody has been able to resolve yet. Spectre `tricks' one of your application to send the hacker confidential information. Every system (even cloudsystems) seem to be vulnerable to this Source

In conclusion, almost everybody owning a computer might have a problem :(
