Super moon... not just something to look at.
Well we are seeing the other effects of the super moon that is present at the moment.
A super moon occurs because the moon is closer to the earth than usual. This also means that its gravitational effects on the earth are slightly enhanced.
This results in higher high tides and lower low tides around the time of full moon or new moon in a super moon cycle.

Not only is the tidal effect on the earths seas greater but also the tidal effect on the earths land masses. During eclipses and super moon full moons the risk of earth quakes is heightened because often the additional tidal pulls are enough to be the last straw that breaks the camels back.
It is likely that some of the recent earthquakes around the globe were partially triggered by the additional strains present due to the proximity of the current super moon.

Concerning the earthquakes, if I am not wrong, there is no scientific proof but only an observed correlation. Is it correct?
correct, but that correlation seem strong enough for me... and I think a few more New Zealanders will be suffering from confirmational bias after this one.
Sure. To be clear, I do not deny the existence of the correlation (and my hopes are with New Zealanders). I was just asking whether some scientific articles had appeared (and that I may have missed) that would confirming 'upgrading the correlation into a scientific fact'. At the end, it is only a matter of how ones defines his/her standards.
