A North Korean man has surprised the authorities in South Korea, after he said that he overcame a fence almost 3 meters high, during his escape from North Korea, reports "Independent".

The person, still in his 20s, was interrogated after he was caught in South Korea and said that he was a former gymnast and had "overcome the 3 meter high fence" that separated the two countries in the demilitarized zone, reports "The Korea Herald ”.

The news has sparked reactions in South Korea about how the person was able to cross such a tightly supervised border crossing without sounding the alarm.

The North Korean, with an athletic body, was forced to prove his athletic abilities, to convince the authorities that he overcame the fence and did not climb through it.

The theory is that he probably crossed the perch-style fence with a metal stick. Authorities in South Korea have called for an immediate investigation. The North Korean was reportedly captured by South Korean soldiers on Nov. 4, but the military has waited until this week to show it has overcome fences without sounding the alarm.
