March 8 in New York | Things to do

in #news7 years ago

March 8 is the feast of spring.  But few people know that according to one version, it originated in New York.

Historians associate this day with a "march of empty pots" in 1857. Workers of textile factories went out to the rally, demanding human labor conditions and wages, not less than men's.  Officially, the festival was first celebrated in 1909.

In the United States, March is considered the month of the history of women - when they remember and honor the achievements of famous American women.  The Secretary of State and the First Lady are holding official events dedicated to the outstanding achievements of women in the United States.  Traditionally on this day throughout the country marches are held: the holiday was not in vain due to one of the rallies for gender equality.
