JFK FILES | What's been Found So Far From The Newly Released Documents

Late yesterday, as expected, the National Archives released a further batch of documents relating to the investigation into the assassination President John F. Kennedy. A total of 2,891 documents were released which unfortunately, according to the National Archives, is not all of them. They state in their press release that the "President has allowed the temporary withholding of certain information that would harm national security, law enforcement, or foreign affairs". This temporary certification period will end on April 26th 2018. So without further ado lets take a look at what's been found so far:

  • British newspaper received anonymous tip off 25 mins before assassination:

https://www.archives.gov/files/research/jfk/releases/docid-32352381.pdf

  • FBI warned Dallas PD of a threat to kill Oswald after the President's assassination. They wanted to convince the public that Oswald was the real assassin:

(Below is an easy to read version)

MR. J Edgar Hoover said as follows:

There is nothing farther on the Oswald case except that he is dead. Last night we received a call in our Dallas office from a man talking in a calm voice saying he was a member of a committee organized to kill Oswald.

We at once notified the chief of police and he assured us Oswald would be given swiftest protection. THis morning we called the Chief of Police again warning of the possibility of some effort against Oswald and he again assured us adequate protection would be given. HOwever this was not done.

They brought him out of city jail and were taking him to the county jail when a man stepped out and shot him in the stomach. This man was arrested at once. He goes under the name of Jack Leon Ruby but his real name is Rubenstein. He runs two nightclubs in Dallas and has the reputation of being a homosexual. Immediately after the shooting, he *Oswald) was moved to parkland hospital and died about 35 min ago. We had an agent at the hospital in the hope that he might make some kind of a confession before he died but he did not do so.

Ruby says no one was associated with him and denies having made the telephone call to our Dallas office last night. He says he bought the gun about three years ago and that he guessed his grief over the killing of the president made him insane. That was a pretty smart move on his part because it might lay the foundation for a plea of insanity later.

I dispatched to dallas one of my top assistants in a hope that he might stop the Chief of Police and his staff from doing so damned much talking on television. They did not really have a case against Oswald until we gave them our information. We traced the weapon, we identified the handwriting, we identified the fingerprints on the brown bag. We were able to identify the bullets as coming from that gun. All the Dallas Police had was three witnesses who tentatively identified him as the man who shot the president and boarded a bus to go home shortly after the President was killed. He got on a bus to go home to get a shirt and the bus conductor tentatively identified him as the man who boarded the bus.

Oswald had been saying he wanted John Abt as his lawyer and Abit, with only that kind of evidence could have turned the case around i’m afraid. All the talking down there might have required a change of venue on the basis that Oswald could not have gotten a fair trial in Dallas. If they keep on talking, perhaps the same will be true of Ruby.

Chief of Police Carry I understand cannot control Capt. Fritz of the Homicide Squad who is giving much information to the press. Since we now think it involves the criminal code on a conspiracy charge under section 241 we want them to shut up. Furthermore i have ordered the evidence be secured by the police department. We sent more of the evidence back to them. We still have the bullets that were fired and will keep them.

The thing I am concerned about, and so is Mr. Katzenbach, is having something issued so we can convice the public that Oswald is the real assassin. Mr. Katzenback thinks that the President might appoint a presidential Commission of three outstanding citizens to make a determination. I countered with ta suggestion that we make an investigative report to the Attorney General with pictures, laboratory work, etc. Then the Attorney General can make the report to the President and the President can decide whether to make it public. I felt this was better because there are several aspects which would complicate our foreign relations. For instance, Oswald made a phone call to the Cuban Embassy in Mexico City which we intercepted. it was only about a visa, however, he also wrote a letter to the Soviet Embassy here in Washington, which we intercepted, read and resealed. This letter referred to the fact that the FBI had questioned his activities on the Fair Play to Cuba Committee and also asked about extension of his wife's visa. That letter from Oswald was addressed to the man in the Soviet Embassy who is in charge of assassination and similar activities on the part of the Soviet government. To have that drawn into a public hearing would muddy the waters internationally. To use all that would reveal our failure to carry out international courts (?) laws. And since this has nothing to do with proof that Oswald committed the murder, I made the suggestion to Mr. Katzenbach that instead of a Presidential Commission, we do it with a Justice Department report based on an FBI report.

Oswald having been killed today after our warning to the Dallas Police department, was inexcusable. It will allow, I am afraid, a lot of civil rights people to raise a lot of hell because he was handcuffed and had no weapon. There are bound to be some elements of our society who will holler their heads off that his civil rights were violated - which they were.

So far there is no smoking gun that proves without a doubt JFK's assassination was an inside job, and to be honest I suspect there never will be. According to these new finds it would appear the FBI are even unsure if Oswald was either a Cuban or Russian asset let alone a CIA hitman.

Finally as this wasn't the complete set of JFK documents Wikileaks has put out a $100,000 reward for anyone that can furnish them with the complete set.

Great article, too bad the info doesn't really give clear answers but it wouldn't have been released if it did

We won't really see a solid conclusion out of these publicly released documents. If the docs could reveal anything too serous, they wouldn't be released in the first place. I'm pretty sure the first hand direct evidence has already been destroyed a long time ago. At best wikileaks could find out about indirect evidence like some people communicating or mentioning the incident.

Thanks. Yes this is my thought also. I don't think the establishment would ever expose itself.

Great compilation, thanks for putting this together. I've been reading some of the finds at r/conspiracy and plan to check out some of the documents myself.

I agree with the consensus here, they won't release all the documents that likely point to a CIA coup.

Funny how they're already claiming that they cannot release certain files because they don't want to stoke 'conspiracy theories'. This is a ridiculous statement as it indicates that there exists evidence that needs to be covered up.

No worries. No me neither. If there was any evidence of a conspiracy they prob would have destroyed it by now.

Another theory I've read is that they're keeping back documents that exposes the mistakes and incompetence of the various security agencies involved leading up to the shootings of JFK and subsequently Oswald. And if they release them it's likely to embarrass a whole load of alphabet agencies. Either way what every they release it won't a smoking gun that's for sure.

Hey are you around? I have work for you.

Indeed I am. I shall message you on Discord now.
Thanks

@fortified I myself is of the belief that we will never know the whole truth. From the looks of this there is so many moving parts to the assassination that the Gov would not bother going through another repeat investigation lke they did back in the 90's. A great man died, becuase he was a threat to the hegemony at the time.

A great man died, becuase he was a threat to the hegemony at the time.

He sure did.

There are some interesting details about Oswald himself but not much more really. Although there are over 2800 documents so someone might find something still. But I doubt it.

Thanks

Awesome compilation of information buddy.
I doubt if we'll ever know the truth. JFK had so many gunning for him, I'm sure they were lining up to take him out. I was in no doubt that this was a conspiracy before this release however the tangled web that has been woven around this story is never going to be deciphered. All by design.

Thanks.
The truth might be that the cia/fbi etc just fucked up and they could have actually prevented the shooting in the first place and that now they don't want to share their failures for fear of embarrassment. Oswald does have an interesting story though.

I doubt it will ever end tbh.

Great article, upvoted and resteemed. I plan to cover this tonight or soon on my youtube channel. I will give credit and drop a link for people to view your article in the description box.

Hey Sorry Im a bit late in the reply. thanks brother. Hope the video went well. Will check it out shortly.
Peace
@fortified

Excellent summary, thank you

Based on what's been released so far, things seem pretty sketchy. No wonder they didn't want to release everything. But, hey, at least we got something right?

Yes it does seem strange that they're still holding on to a few docs.

We'll put together, thx for your work

Alright now bring on the Alien doccuments !

Wow! Where do I begin?

https://www.archives.gov/research/jfk/2017-release Here I guess. Let us know what you find. There is still a lot to go through.
