#Religion and our society

Mental Slavery
The black man forgot the bond that brings them together even after the colonial masters are long gone. How long are we going to keep suffering under the guise of religion? When are we going to accept ourselves as brothers? When is religion going to be abolish from our secular day to day activities? These and many more question has brought our society into a backward movement. I grow up in a society that attributes everything to God, we wait for God to do the needful while we have the power to decide. Our sovereignty is always threatened by religious bigot. I feel free whenever I am among people of different tribe but I am always insecure when issue of religion is brought up. Let stop comparing our country to other country else, we will remain the greatest enemy of ourselves.

The art of war begins with the dance step of the drummer. When issues that infringes on the generality of the people becomes the main point of discussion in our society then we should become aware of the aftermath. Let not forget what brought about 1994 genocide in the country of Rwanda that wiped out over 800,000 souls. Nigeria is a country always sitting on gun powder in all its sector both political and religion. A ravaging issue on the recent call to bar of law school which deny a Muslim lady of being call to bar based on her religious belief has being causing different reactions among the citizens.

Call to bar and Religion belief

When the issue of slave trade in Libya is brought forth, many of Nigerian citizen condemn it outrightly and also make passionate plead to the outside world to help alleviate the suffering of the people there but Nigerians in their own country has refuse to free themselves from mental slavery. We attach too much meaning to religious activities and making the society believe our religion is more superior and better than others. In any society or organization there is rule and law that always guide the ethics of all profession. The law school has being in existence for years back, and it has its own rules which guide all admittance. Your allegiance to this law shows that you will strictly abide by it.

She refuse to take off her hijab on her call to bar ceremony and she missed been call to bar. Instead of some Nigerian to look at the issue from the secular aspect of the country they rather decide to dwell on the religious lane.

My Opinion

So far I can relate with another religious belief in my day to day activities why not the country exclude any form of religious activities from the society day to day activities. If as a citizen you felt an aspect of a profession will not go all that well with ur religious belief while don't you just consider other available profession in other for peace to reign within the society. The society is a combination of different religious group which if all decide to fight and invent their belief into the society then we will end up in a state of anarchy.
