Did Nazis hide caches of weapons in Charlottesville?

Now we all know the general events of Charlottesville, we know about the Nazi rally, the counter protests, and the outbreak of violence. Some of us are aware of the armed members of right wing militias that were at the "unite the right" rally, some openly Nazis, some openly opposed to Nazism, and some lost in the middle. However, I was until only today unaware of the ongoing battle between the Governor of Virginia, and the state police.

In a pod cast interview with Pod Save the People, Governor Terry McAuliffe, claimed not only that police were out armed by many of the civilians in the area, allegiances of which are hard to verify, but the existence of which is easy (see below,) but that caches of hidden weapons were found around the city.

Now while it is clear that the police were unprepared for what happened, and incapable of maintaining peace and protecting people or enforcing the law, they have officially denied that they found weapons or that they were outgunned/unprepared. If such drivel is to be believed, then we must again ask them why they failed to keep the peace or disrupt the Nazi protest when it became violent.

Of course, based on my knowledge of police and federal paramilitary organizations, as well as my knowledge of right wings militias, I can say that at least one of the known militias in the area at the time had both better armament, and superior training when compared to the police.

I can also say, based on videos as well as first hand reports, that the police let the right wing protesters have full reign of the situation, acting more to protect the rally, than to protect the people who came under attack by the white supremacists who threw rocks, bottles of piss, and hit people with blunt weapons including their tiki torches such as "University of Virginia employee Tyler Magill, 46, (who) was hit in the neck when he rushed to join students who were surrounded by torch-wielding white nationalists Friday — and suffered a stroke due to blunt force trauma on Tuesday." source
