Wildfire close to site of partial nuclear meltdown

in #news6 years ago (edited)

It truly never ceases to amaze me what a fucked up world we live in. Partial meltdown of nuclear reactors are happening left and right and never make the news. Even as the Wolsey fires have ignited on contaminated by such a reactor and very close to the site of the meltdown, still, not a word. I am talking about the Santa Susana Field Laboratory in CA.

Here is a quote from robin western a.blogspot.com

“Decades of nuclear and rocket-engine testing activity, including nuclear reactor accidents and other toxic spills and releases, have resulted in widespread contamination throughout SSFL’s 2,850 acre facility.”

I feel like the joke is on us because if you ask the DTSC, no hazardous substances are emitted from the smoke of those fires. That doesn’t make any sense!

A cleanup promised for 2017 has not even begun at the time of this environmental tragedy.

When are the Energy leaders going to take accountability? It seems like the Tepco fiasco was first in a legacy of utter failures in the Nuclear industry as has been predicted with its emergence in the 50s.

Oh wow! Thanks for the news, @edouard. Being on the road it's a bit hard to stay connected. Charging my phone is difficult enough, not to mention interrnetting and staying up to date with the things happening... even just around me.
A couple of weeks ago it seemed like I am riding at the perfect time: after the wildfires, and before the rainy season. But now, with fires in Paradise and Thousand Oaks, I may have spoken too soon (or too loud, too fast). Sure, smoky skies over Santa Cruz can be a downer on a bike-trip, but a nuclear meltdown? Anyway, I'm just outside San Luis Obispo, and set on continuing till L.A. They should contain the fires by the time I get there, and as for the nuclear situation... I'll just hope for the best.

this is sad. we've already polluted the entire pacific ocean. it's bad enough as is.

Well on the bright side, I find it very cool that you care!

well i only care because i love sushi and i have to think about the nuclear waste every time i have one 😆
anyways man haven't seen your post in awhile!
