UPDATE: Police are now reporting multiple shooting scenes on the LV Boulevard, with at least three of the locations having drawn an armed police response. Calls were made from many other locations reporting gunfire, but emergency responders could not hear any gunfire upon arrival. Officials believe the calls were made to draw armed police away from the actual shooting.
A shooting that began roughly one hour ago on the South end of the Las Vegas strip at the Route 91 Harvest music festival has left dozens injured and several dead. The concert was being held outside the Luxor Casino. Footage supplied to the media by festival goers recorded extended fire from automatic weapons, causing confusion and panic amongst the crowd.
All traffic from McCarran International Airport is on a complete ground stop due to proximity of the shooting, halting all arrivals and departures. There are confirmed reports of several dead and wounded, LVPD among the casualties, with witnesses reporting several gunmen. A spokesman for one Las Vegas hospital has confirmed at least 2 people killed and another 24 injured currently in their wards.
Police report at least one suspect shot dead, and are reporting possibility of at least one more active shooter. A witness reported:
Clip after clip after clip, bullets flying everywhere, people running. It was really, really bad. We were the furthest VIP stages away from Mandalay Bay and they (the bullets) were ricocheting everywhere... They were firing from somewhere high and they were unloading clip after clip after clip. Multiple shooters, has to be.”

I was listening to the live feed of the police scanners during this whole thing unfolding. It was so unreal. The last time I was in Vegas I was actually a little worried that about the security factor and lack thereof long most of the strip. On my previous trips to Vegas there were way more LVPD units on the actual street and on this last trip it was mostly security guards no cops.
