The cryptic tweet sent by U.S. Strategic Command

in #news3 years ago

That's a pretty frightening name of a government organization isn't it? It kind of makes me wonder why they feel compelled to have a Twitter account also, which is, in itself, quite dumb.

However, they do have one and a pretty amazing Tweet got sent out the other day on their official account.

I guess a bunch of people follow US Strategic Command on Twitter because immediately people were trying to figure out if this was some sort of cryptic code or some sort of launch code that leaked or perhaps the account had been hacked. Of course there was also a bunch of memes and fun stuff that came out of it as well.

Unfortunately for all those who got worked up about it and even had a fairly active subreddit for a while there as the autistic folks put their heads together to try to figure out what this could possibly mean.

Well, unfortunately for all those folks that should probably get outside and get some fresh air more often the real reason behind the now deleted tweet isn't something so amazing after all.

It wasn't a secret message for the aliens, these weren't leaked launch codes, this wasn't some sort of cryptic message that was meant to be figured out by people with high IQ's. Nah, it was just some kid who got a hold of a computer terminal that was left open by the user. That does seem like a plausible answer but it also raises a pretty serious question in my mind.

What the fuck are little kids doing at the computer terminals in United States Strategic Command?

I don't even know what that agency does but the words in the name indicate that it is probably something pretty important and not really an area where I want kids to be running around hitting buttons on stuff. Don't they have day care or something?
