Basically everything featured on Yahoo right now

So the first presidential debate just happened and like most people I was very excited for it. I can't help but feel as though it was a pretty horrible event for everyone involved. Chris Wallace was serving as Joe's tag team partner (this was kind of expected,) everyone was talking over everyone else, and very little was learned about how either candidate feels about anything because they wouldn't tell us, it was just negative cheap shots taken at both candidates by both candidates, for several hours.

It was a shit show and we all know less after having watched it.

It should come as no surprise that certain news outlets have claimed victory for their guy and attempts to shame the other candidate and the usual suspects are doing precisely that.

While Yahoo News does actually employ their own news team they mostly focus on being and aggregate of other news stories and anyone who knows anything about them knows that their articles tend to be of a particular political persuasion: That is, they almost never feature an article that says anything even remotely good about conservatives.

It wasn't a surprise when they started featuring articles exclusively praising Joe and denouncing Trump, that was always going to happen. I just find it amusing that they are so predictable as a news provider because they are not, they are, just like almost anyone else in media, completely biased.

Here's some of the headlines from their selections today

  • "Biden's spotlight on son's addiction earns praise from advocates"
  • "Trump refuses to denounce alt-right white-supremacist groups"
  • "Critics warn that Trump's "poll watcher" rhetoric is a powerful voter suppression tool"
  • "Trump's fear dominates first debate"
  • "Trump slammed for saying campaign rallies don't spread Coronavirus"

The last article, which was written by The Independent, which is one of the worst mainstream media sources was filled with half-truths and instead of doing any sort of reporting on what was actually said at the debates, they instead focused on random users' Tweets. Not people who were there, not journalists' Tweets even... just random angry people online. Awesome reporting guys!

Now if you watched the debate or even the highlights of it you already know that it was an absolute dumpster fire. No one should be praising anyone or declaring anyone a victor of that because it was pretty disgraceful on everyone's part. The media overwhelmingly want to talk about Trump interrupting but honestly, everyone there was talking over everyone else, it wasn't just Trump. That doesn't make his interruptions any less annoying but the fact that no one there was going to allow anyone else to talk unimpeded made it all but unwatchable.

I thought it was going to be entertaining but it was just one face-palm after the other. Neither candidate gave us any new information and all they did was repeat the usual talking points that have been on social media for a year now (probably more.)

I enjoy comedy as much as the next guy and I was hopeful for some of that during this debate but the end result was just annoying and I hope that these guys can tone it down a bit for the next one so that we can actually get some information instead of watch two grown men act like kids arguing on the playground

I knew this was going to happen with Yahoo news because they do it every single day. This is the same news outlet that in the comments section of their own articles were getting called out by thousands of posters every single day about how obviously biased they are. Yahoo's response was to shut down the comments section on all posts once it started to dominate the overall theme of the entire site.

That was a real shame because the comments section was almost always a lot more informative than the actual articles that were being featured... Why? Because the people in the comments section included all the information about any particular situation that the biased authors of the articles were intentionally excluding. I guess Yahoo didn't like that very much so they just shut down the ability to acquire this information claiming that they wanted their forums to be "safe."

Yahoo, like basically any news aggregate are just as biased as the new organizations they include in their list. You aren't going to learn anything by going there but instead, this is just another set of articles that reinforce your beliefs by selecting articles that only push one side of the overall agenda. They are not journalists, they are activists, and therefore a vast majority of what they feature on their website from now until the election can probably all be lumped into the category of...

"It was a shit show and we all know less after having watched it."

I've always appreciated accurate concise summaries of events and subject matter. And this statement nails it!

Love the post @dumb-news.

hey i'm glad you enjoyed it! I have my moments 😀

I tried to watch it all but couldn't, it was just too awful to even look at or listen to. Despite the fact that I am conservative I am of course not surprised that the conservative outlets are declaring the first debate a triumphant victory for Trump... or something along those lines.

This was nobody's victory, this was awful.

yeah it certainly was sad. If shows like SNL weren't so politically biased they could have a lot of fun with this but they would probably prefer to only make Trump look bad even though anyone with some sort of thought process remaining can clearly see that Joe is just as absurd.
