Super Typhoon Wutip is the first system to reach this category in the month of February in the northern hemisphere of the planet. A super typhoon in the Pacific Ocean, 300 miles west of Guam, became the strongest tropical system that has ever existed in the month of February, in the northern hemisphere of the world, since it has a record.

According to meteorologist Jeff Masters of Weather Underground, NOAA has in its archives only seven typhoons that have reached categories four and five between the months of January and February in the northwestern Pacific.

Only the Typhoon Ophelia of 1958 reached 160 mph on January 13. The strongest previous typhoon recorded in February was the super typhoon Figs, which reached 150 mph winds on February 10, 2015.

      El supertifón Wutip es el primer sistema en alcanzar esta categoría en el mes de febrero en el hemisferio norte del planeta. Un supertifón en el océano Pacífico, a 300 millas al oeste de Guam, se convirtió en el sistema tropical más fuerte que jamás haya existido en el mes de febrero, en el hemisferio norte del mundo, desde que se tiene récord.
     
Según explica el meteorólogo Jeff Masters de Weather Underground, la NOAA tiene en sus archivos solo siete tifones que han alcanzado las categorías cuatro y cinco entre los meses de enero y febrero en el Pacífico noroccidental.
     
Solo el tifón Ophelia de 1958 alcanzó las 160 mph el 13 de enero. El tifón anterior más fuerte registrado en febrero fue el supertifón Higos, que alcanzó vientos de 150 mph el 10 de febrero de 2015.
