US Places New Sanctions On Russia

in #news8 years ago (edited)

The Obama administration just recently unleashed some new sanctions against Russia, targeting 5 individuals specifically, over allegations regarding human rights violations from back in 2012. Americans are now banned from doing any business with these 5 individuals who have been targeted, and any assets that they have in the United States have now been frozen.

The new sanctions come after weeks of accusations over Russia's involvement with the recent US election and their claims that Russia had something to do with leaks and trying to persuade the US public to opt for a certain candidate. There hasn't been any hard evidence released yet that proves these accusations to be true. And the recently released US intelligence report that was supposed to provide that evidence to the public, has been widely denounced.

The Kremlin has also dismissed any accusations that they had anything to do with any hacking and involvement in the election, calling the campaign a 'witch-hunt' and nothing more. The US report claimed that Russia's President had ordered a cyber campaign that was aimed toward trying to get Trump elected.

Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange, has also denied that Russia provided them with any e-mails involved with the recent DNC scandal. It's possible that Trump might overturn the sanctions against Russia, and that is one move that would sure be surprising.

The anti-Russian propaganda train isn't slowing down. We can expect to see the continued devise disinformation to be spread about our "enemies" overseas, with mainstream article titles like "Why Russia Cannot Become Our Friend" and more. Are we back in the 60s all over again?
