Navy Moves To Ban Vaping On Ships And Aircraft

in #news7 years ago (edited)

A number of incidents have occurred in the past couple of years where sailors have inflicted physical injuries on themselves because of a vaping device or electronic cigarette that they were using.

According to reports from the Naval Safety Center, there have been at least 15 different instances over the past 2 years, where individuals have suffered first or second degree burns because of these smoking tools.

One individual even reportedly suffered facial and dental injuries because of it.

Because of the worry over the e-cigarette battery explosions, the navy is now moving to ban the vaping and e-cigarette tools from their ships and aircraft which; expected to begin on May 14th of this year. They say that the devices pose a threat to Navy personnel, as well as the ships, and other facilities.

There is still a final determination on the policy that is yet to be made so this ban might not be a permanent one.

This is a common concern that has come up with those who are nervous about trying out the e-cigarette or vaping technology. There have been numerous reports about people having their smoking tools overheat on them, cause fires, or explode.

Many who vape or use e-cigarettes on a regular basis will tell you that these such worries are overblown; they insist that you just need to be educated properly on how to use the device and that you should purchase a quality device not a cheap one.

Though there have still been a decent amount of reports where people have suffered injuries because of their e-cigarette.

This new ban for the navy is going to apply to sailors, Military Sealift Command civilians, and Marines. Along with any other individuals who are working among those units.

This is ridiculous. This ban will force those that vape in the Navy to go back to old tobacco habits. .

A few of my good buddies are in the service and they vape like no tomorrow... I suspect this is going to upset a ton of people. Surprising to hear..
